Standby

The timer command that comes right before the start signal: you take your ready position on "Standby," then the beep fires at a random moment so you cannot anticipate it.

Standby is the moment of readiness before the shot timer beeps. The random delay after it is the whole point: if the signal always came at the same instant, you would train your memory of the rhythm instead of your reaction. At home a Standby command with a random start gives you the same honest first-shot time you would get at the range.
