A correct grip keeps the pistol on line and controls muzzle flip. The strong hand rides as high as possible under the tang; the support hand fills the empty space on the other side, and both thumbs point forward along the frame. The effort is split - for a right-hander, roughly 30-40% in the shooting hand and 60-70% in the support hand: the left holds, the right shoots. Crushing with the shooting hand kills a smooth trigger press and pushes the muzzle off line. The grip is taken once - ideally already in the holster - and should not change from shot to shot.
